FOOD BUSINESS

Incubating small businesses

WHEDco helps men and women grow successful businesses in the food industry, providing them with the resources they need to gain economic security. Our affordable Commercial Kitchen and our partnership with New York City's Green Cart Program provide avenues towards financial and personal success.

Commercial Kitchen

WHEDco makes affordable commercial kitchen space available to emerging food companies. The state-of-the-art, 4,000 square foot commercial kitchen, located in our flagship building Urban Horizons, is available on a per diem or monthly basis and fees are competitive for longer-term rentals.

Our kitchen is ideal for caterers, bakers and food and beverage manufacturers in need of a fully-equipped commercial kitchen at affordable rates. WHEDco also provides hands-on business development support, including help with marketing and sales. Successful companies have gone on to establish their own kitchens. Manufacturers in our kitchen create, store and pack a variety of specialty food products.

REAL RESULTS

Waffle Waffle came to Urban Horizons from a kitchen in New Jersey that couldn't offer the flexibility owner Sam Rockwell needed to grow his business. After four months at Urban Horizons, they grew from two customers to 45, including Whole Foods and ShopRite! "WHEDco helped us get where we needed to go," says Sam. A true incubator success story, they have since moved on to a larger facility - exactly what we hoped for.
