Home Based Childcare Microenterprise

Training Entrepreneurs; Serving Parents; Caring for Children

WHEDCo's Family Day Care network helps local women establish neighborhood-based childcare enterprises by providing training, tax and licensing assistance, access to start-up funds and other resources. In the last 10 years, the network has grown to include 180 business owners, collectively generating $6.1 million in annual gross revenue while caring for over 1,000 children annually in safe, affordable and educational facilities. In addition to training providers, the program helps parents secure childcare as they seek employment or education. Family Day Care businesses allow parents to maintain steady jobs no matter what their hours of employment, while keeping business revenue flowing within neighborhoods. The economic multiplier effect of this program has received national and international recognition. Read more about our childcare providers in the The New York Daily News!
