Thursday, September 29, 2011

WHEDco hosted the opening reception for the Arts Connect new York (ACNY) exhibition, "Between the Lines," at Urban Horizons on September 29, 2011.

Participating artists donated their work for this permanent exhibit to be housed in the residential and commercial lobbies. These artists include: Blair Bradshaw, Gary Cohen, Sean Lubo, Kate Durkin, Rodney Durso, William Dutterer, Mikel Frank, Audrey Heller, Jeanette Martone, Xanda McCagg, Gilda Pervin and Gail Rodney.

WHEDco engaged Arts Connects New York to help beautify our architecturally unique Urban Horizons building in the South Bronx. "We're thrilled that thousands of community and building residents we serve can enjoy the themes of movement, hope and opportunity that the pieces reflect," said Nancy Biberman, WHEDco's President and Founder.

In addition to emotive visual art, the "Behind the Lines" opening reception featured live music by Kenneth Edwards, violinist and WHEDco's Afterschool Program music instructor, sponsored by WHEDco's Bronx Music Heritage Center performance series.
