Helping Women Build Successful Childcare Businesses
Providers in our childcare network receive training and support and see their incomes rise. Our licensed network providers earn 369% more than an average non-licensed childcare provider.
Saving Money and Reducing our Carbon Footprint
Our flagship building is the first affordable residential development to undergo a cellar-to-roof energy retrofit. It's already resulting in a 10% drop in water bills for tenants. Next year we expect the savings to increase from 10% to 20%.
Revitalizing Neighborhoods and Helping Small Businesses Thrive
We've reduced commercial vacancies along Southern Boulevard by 33% and started a merchant association that's building foot traffic and increasing sales for small businesses.
2012 marks WHEDco's 20th anniversary. We'll celebrate by moving forward with our newest development, a 355,000-square-foot mixed use campus with affordable apartments, including apartments for elder musicians, a school, a performance center (The Bronx Music Heritage Center) and more.
